Yesterday I ran the East Cobb Memorial Day 5k/10k in Atlanta, Georgia. The race started at East Cobb LA Fitness at 7:30am with check in and packet pick up opening at 6:30am.
All right, this is my first race after the big one in Disney World. Since I normally work on the weekends I haven't been able to sign up for any races but when I found out about the Memorial Day 5k/10K that was held on a Monday (a day that I have off) I was defiantly up for my first 10k.
The race morning I was up early to have a little breakfast of apple cinnamon oatmeal and since I laid out everything I need for the race the night before I was in the car off to the race in no time.
This race I decided to try out a new running accessory the HALO Headband. The Halo is a dry-line a fabric headband with a patented sweat block seal that channels sweat back and away form your eyes. The sweat block seal was the main reason I wanted to give it a try, because there is nothing worst then have to remove your sunglasses to wipe away sweat form your eyes in the middle of a race.
The packet pick up was very simple and organized with race registration on one side and all pre-register dived by last name on the other.

The 5k and 10k Both started at the time which resulted in the time of the race be very congested. After the the first mile or so the field started to thin out with everyone settling into to there pace. I really didn't have a strategy for this race, my plan was to kind a good pace where I didn't have to walk.
After the 5k turnaround felt good so I decide to pick it up for the final 5k focusing just on passing the person right in front me, until about a little over quarter of a mile left some guy decide to pass me......O No That's Not Going to Fly. So we ended up have a sprint to the finish....
